Friday, March 27 9am-4pm both days $129 Saturday, March 28 This 2-day course exposes you to a wide variety of sewing quilting and embroidery techniques. Participants will have fun as they discover their ?sewing identity? and learn how a BERNINA is suited for their unique needs. Students build a solid sewing foundation that will serve them for a lifetime of sewing. By the end of Academy, participants will have made a Technique Book to use as a reference guide every time they sew with their BERNINA.

December 6, 10am Project Month: Cutie Pie Apron Learn how to make this adorable and figure flattering apron with a scallop edge. This is a quick gift that everyone will love. A Embroidery Month: Changing Design Colors We love color and want to visually get an idea of how the design colors look before we stitch. This is easy on the embroidery machine using the Color Wheel or by selecting thread colors right on the machine. Let?s have fun with color and change it up! Technique Month: Overlocker - Flatlock The flatlock stitch is showing up all over ready-to-wear clothing lately. Once you learn how easy this stitch is to create you will be finding ways to add it your garment and decorative sewing projects. It is a great seam for raglan sleeves and can even be used as a hem finish for your t-shirts. It is also a lot of fun to use in decorative ways and can be embellished with decorative thread and ribbon. We will show you how and you can get creative! Friday, January 3, 10am Project: Catch-all Pincushion with Hayley Grzych This super-utility cushion will hold your pins, binding clips, and catch your trimmed threads. Learn about incorporating specialty materials like cork and vinyl into your embroidery projects to get successful results. Technique: Overlocker Multi-purpose Foot with Jaime David Make piping, add beads and install zippers?you can do it all with one terrific presser foot, the multi-purpose foot. Use this mini pouch to hold your loose change, headphones, or a lip balm and you can even add it to a keyring. Constructing and finishing has never been easier than with your BERNINA overlocker! Embroidery: Personalized Napkin Ring and Name Cards with Sylvain Bergeron Nothing says ?welcome to my table? like a personalized napkin ring. Using built-in embroidery lettering in your BERNINA, quickly create lettering for each ring. Add a buttonhole, and you have a ribbon pass-through opening to form the ring. Learn to create this quilt with a large block and some not so traditional fabrics. No hand work required. Embroidery: Shape a Design Throw Pillow with Judy Hahner Explore the BERNINA Shape Designer! Pick a piece of your design and bring it into the Shape Designer to create a new design. Use basic editing features on the embroidery machine and you?re ready to stitch. Technique: Scalloped Bindings with Nina McVeigh Finish your quilts with a beautiful scalloped edge. Learn to cut the right scallop shape and the steps to be successful. We?ll bind the scallop edge with the BERNINA Bias Binder.

Wednesday, March 11, 9am-noon Creating with Patterns- We will look at what to consider when creating pattern runs and fills as well as how to create patterns that can be used for knock down backgrounds for terry cloth and for a background for free-standing lace.
